LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech women’s tennis head coach Toddy Petty has announced the addition of Sarah Toti, who has signed a financial aid agreement and will transfer from Tennessee.
Toti, who was a two-time high school All-American, was rated as the No. 13 best prospect in the nation by Tennis Recruiting.net in 2011. She notched over 70 wins during her prep career and was a five-star recruit coming out of high school.
“We are so excited to have Sarah join us,” said Petty. “She was a top junior and one of the top freshman in the Southeastern Conference. She had some bad luck with injuries this past year but has worked hard to get back to form. She will be a big addition to our program next year.”
Toti, a native of Las Vegas, Nev., has spent the past two seasons at Tennessee. As a freshman, she was a three-time recipient of SEC Freshman of the Week honors, won the 2011 Furman Fall Classic Flight Four singles title and the 2011 Dick Vitale Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic doubles title. She was ranked as high as No. 2 in the nation in doubles and finished the season with 26 wins before tearing her ACL against Arkansas.
She saw limited action as a sophomore, as she recovered from her ACL injury. Toti played primarily doubles during her second season in Knoxville and was starting to return to form when the season came to a close, as she won both of her matches at No. 2 during the Lady Vols’ NCAA Tournament run this spring.
Toti joins a recruiting class that includes incoming freshmen Lynn Kiro (Cape Town, South Africa), Beatriz Machado Santos (Lisbon, Portugal) and Samantha Czarniak Rego (São Paulo, Brazil).
