LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech incoming tennis freshman, Samantha Adams, was presented the Mary Lowdon Award by the USTA Texas Awards Committee at the Texas Summer Grand Slam event in College Station earlier this week.

Created by the Maureen Connolly Brinker Foundation in 1972, this prestigious award honors an outstanding junior girl in Texas who has shown exceptional ability, a good ranking, a willingness to work with up-and-coming players, cooperation and proper respect, and a sportsmanlike and competitive spirit.

Samantha is a 5-star recruit according to the latest TennisRecruiting.net information. The New Braunfels High School graduate is currently ranked sixth in Texas and is listed 49th in the current national rankings.

Coach Todd Petty stated, "Samantha was very moved to receive the award. Todd Chapman and I are really pleased the committee honored her. The award is basically a player of the year award for the Texas section of the USTA."
