2012-13 Lady Raider Tennis Schedule

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech Lady Raider women's tennis team announced its 2012-13 schedule today. The slate features six fall events and 22 regular season spring matches, including 12 matches against teams that appeared in the 2012 NCAA Championships.

"I think our schedule provides us with both regional and national exposure," said Lady Raider head coach Todd Petty. "We have the opportunity to be tested and look forward to what this year has to offer."

Texas Tech returns all seven letterwinners from last season's squad and adds newcomer Sofya Malysheva to the lineup. The Lady Raiders went 19-6 last season and won the Big 12 Conference regular season title with an 8-1 mark.

Texas Tech will open the season at the Midland Raquet Club Club Collegiate Invitational in Midland. Each year, this event features the nation's top collegiate talent from coast to coast.

The fall schedule also includes the Little Rock Classic, a hidden dual match event with Ole Miss, Arkansas and Oklahoma, followed by the Riviera ITA All-American Championships in Los Angeles, Calif. The Lady Raiders will compete at the Air Force Invitational and the ITA Texas Regional Championships in October and close out the fall slate with the New Mexico Invitational in November.

The Lady Raiders open the spring season on Jan. 19, when they host the University of Denver.

Texas Tech then travels to Waco for the ITA Kickoff Weekend, an ITA National Team Indoor Championship qualifier. The Lady Raiders will face No. 30 Rice in the first round and either No. 40 Florida State or No. 13 Baylor in the second round.

The Lady Raiders will then continue a string of six consecutive road matches against ranked foes, including NCAA participants No. 27 Arizona, No. 56 Sacramento State, No. 30 Rice and No. 11 Alabama.

Texas Tech returns home on March 1 to host SMU and No. 74 Wisconsin, before returning to the road to close out the non-conference schedule against No. 50 San Diego and No. 8 North Carolina in San Diego, Calif., on March 12-13.

No. 46 Oklahoma travels to Lubbock to open Big 12 play on March 17 to begin a four-match homestand that includes West Virginia, Iowa State and No. 41 Oklahoma State.

The Lady Raiders will then hit the road for four straight Big 12 matches at No. 17 Texas, No. 71 Kansas State, Kansas and No. 35 TCU, before returning home for Senior Day against No. 13 Baylor on Apr. 21 to close out the regular season.
