Rashmi Teltumbde, Kenna Kilgo and Samantha Adams enter the season nationally ranked.

September 11, 2012

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association preseason rankings came out, with three Texas Tech women earning national rankings to start the season.

The doubles tandem of Samantha Adams and Kenna Kilgo enter the 2012-13 season as the No. 6 team in the nation. It is the highest doubles preseason ranking for any Texas Tech women’s doubles team ever. The duo finished last season ranked 15th nationally. The duo ended the season 25-8 and started the spring No. 45 and climbed 30 spots as the season progressed. They are just the second doubles tandem from Texas Tech to ever earn an invitation to the NCAA Individual Championships.

In singles, Adams, who went 21-15 last season, garnered a ranking of No. 76 in the preseason national rankings after finishing last season ranked No. 112 nationally. Adams’ No. 112 national ranking last spring was the highest year-end finish for a Lady Raider since Irena Tereschenko closed out the 2004 season ranked No. 106.

Rashmi Teltumbde also earned a preseason ranking in singles, entering the ITA women’s poll at No. 105. Teltumbde spent several weeks in the ITA Top 125 last season after compiling a 14-9 record.
