Women's Tennis Hosts Scarborough Specialties Open|

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech's women's tennis team is set to host the fourth annual Scarborough Specialties Open on Fri., Sept. 21-22. Due to the Lubbock Challenger, play will be held at the Municipal Tennis Center (Indiana and 66th St.) and Monterey High School (Indiana and 47th St.) tennis courts.
This year's field includes Air Force Academy, Michigan State, North Central Texas College, Texas-Pan American, Texas State, Texas Tech and Tyler Junior College. In the main draw for the Lady Raiders are top returners Janet Durham and Tech's No. 1 Samantha van der Drift. With only four returners, there will be seven new faces on the courts for the Raiders.
Last time out, Tech's newly formed duo of senior Durham and freshman Coronado stand-out Kelsy Garland swept the doubles the doubles title at the North Texas Invite, winning four-straight matches. Junior-transfer Simone Templeton made her debut as a Red Raider leading her team in singles play. She advanced to the finals after defeating players from ACU, UNT and SFA, but was unable to hold off SMU's Pavi Francis, losing 6-3, 6-3.
