LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's tennis team is set to host its first annual Scarborough Specialties/Texas Tech Classic this weekend, Oct. 1-2, at the McLeod Tennis Center. Matches will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday.
Seven teams including Tech will comprise the field. Abilene Christian, Air Force Academy, New Mexico State, Northern Colorado, North Texas, and Texas State round out the field of competitors.
Head Coach Cari Groce is excited about hosting Tech's first tournament at the McLeod Tennis Center, and the first in school history, considering the caliber of teams competing.
"I think it's a huge opportunity for our program because it's the first tournament we have ever hosted here at Texas Tech," Groce said. "We have some great teams coming this weekend, and I believe it will be a good opportunity for us to showcase our talent to the community."
Matches will begin Friday at 10 a.m. with the doubles championships played on Saturday morning followed by singles championships.
