The Red Raiders will head south this weekend to compete in the UH Fall Tennis Classic on Fri., Oct. 20 and Sat., Oct. 21 at the UH Varsity Courts. Tech will be one of seven teams participating in the tournament. Joining the Red Raiders will be Houston, Tulsa, UT-San Antonio, Southwest Texas, SMU and UT-El Paso.

"I feel we can compete. There is no one out there that is out of sight," said head coach Virginia Brown. "There are some good teams which could allow us to earn some points."

SMU finished the spring season ranked 66th in the ITA polls and Tulsa closed with a 27th ranking.

Sophomore transfer Barbara Schraml has been a good fit for the Red Raiders. Schraml enters this weekend's contest 3-1 for the fall. One win included beating Big 12 opponent Frida Borjesson of Baylor. Her one loss of the year came against SMU's Chrissie Terrill in two-sets, 6-1, 7-6(3).

Freshman Stephanie Mueller and transfer sophomore Beverly Dawson look to improve their 4-2 singles records this weekend.
