AUSTIN, Texas - The Texas Tech women's tennis doubles team of Ghislaine Hernandez and Alenka Ovin advanced to the third round of play Thursday at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships at the University of Texas.

The duo opened play with a first round victory over Meisinger and Miller of Houston 8-2. They returned for the second round later in the day and defeated Farrell and Werdining of SMU 8-5.

The women now face Garcia and Ostling of the University of Arkansas for a chance to advance to the semifinals of the tournament.

In singles action, Alenka Ovin dropped her opening round match to Rachel Niwa of TCU in three sets 6-2, 1-6, 6-3.

The championships are the final tournament for the women this fall.
