Dec. 3, 2007

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech Head Coach Cari Groce announced the addition of two Texas standouts to the Lady Raider Tennis Team next season. Stefanie Peana from Austin and Natalie Leitch from Dallas will join the squad beginning fall 2008.

A member of the 2007 5A State Championship team from Westlake High School, Peana was a two-time state runner-up in singles and was the recipient for her high school Team Player Award. Leitch joins the Lady Raiders after playing No. 1 singles for Highland Park. She won three 4A State Singles Championships after being ranked in the top ten in Texas. Her sister, Jessica, currently plays tennis for Arizona State.

"We are very pleased to sign both of these ladies, and it's thanks to our new Assistant Coach Todd Petty who did a fantastic recruiting job, " commented Groce. "One of our goals is to recruit the top Texas tennis players here to represent Texas Tech. I think their rankings and results speak for themselves, and we couldn't be happier to get such top-calibur players. We're very excited about their arrival in the fall."
