Texas Tech Volleyball to Host Iowa State, Missouri
LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech volleyball team will host Iowa State tonight at 7 p.m. in the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum, along with Missouri Saturday at 7 p.m. The Missouri match on Saturday will be broadcasted on live radio by Lubbock's KKAM-Radio (1340-AM).
The two matches signal the start of a five-match homestand for Texas Tech which consists of Iowa State and Missouri along with Nebraska (Fri., Nov. 21), Colorado (Sat., Nov. 22) and Baylor (Wed., Nov. 26).
Texas Tech (7-7 Big 12, 20-8) is attempting to earn its third consecutive NCAA Tournament berth under head coach Jeff Nelson. Tech is currently on a two-match losing streak after having dropped consecutive 3-0 decision to nationally ranked programs Texas and Nebraska.
Iowa State (0-14 Big 12, 9-18) enters the match with a 16-match losing streak while Missouri (2-12 Big 12, 13-15) enters its road matches with Tech and Baylor on a five-match losing streak.
"Iowa State and Missouri are must wins for us," Nelson said. "We beat them both 3-0 the first time around. And then on down the road, we finish with five out of six at home so we're very happy to be done with all the traveling. Hopefully, we can finish strong at home and get another NCAA berth."
The upcoming match against Nebraska next Friday will be broadcasted on tape delay by Fox Sports Net. On the following Saturday match against Colorado (Nov. 22), admission is free to all Tech students who bring their Oklahoma-Texas Tech football ticket stub to attend the volleyball game against Colorado on Saturday, Nov. 22. Adults can also receive $2.00 off the regular ticket price of $5.00 with their ticket stub.
