Texas Tech volleyball played its first matches of the season at United Spirit Arena on Friday, sweeping UT-Pan Am and San Jose State to stay perfect this season.
Texas Tech volleyball will begin the 2012 season on the road at the Boston College Tournament in Boston, Mass., this weekend, playing four matches against Fordham, Binghamton, Siena and Boston College.
FRESHMAN SEASON (2012)
Led the Red Raiders in kills in just her first collegiate season ... totaled 241 kills while playing in 30 matches ... made five starts on the year as she was usually inserted off the bench early in each set ... appeared in 99 total sets while averaging 2.43 kills per frame ... only the sixth Red Raider freshman since 2000 to record 200 or more kills in a season ... led the Red Raiders with 724 total attacks where she compiled a .189 percentage ... also added 40 digs and 27 blocks ... finished in double digits for kills 11 times overall, beginning with the season opener against Fordham where she totaled 10 ... totaled a .500 hitting percentage against Fordham which marked her season high ... ended the Boston College Invitational with 15 kills against the host Eagles in a five set come-from-behind victory ... set a career high with 23 kills on Sept. 8 against Furman ... marked the only time a Tech player reached the 20-kill mark all season ... was also the fifth-highest kill total for a Big 12 player in 2012 ... finished with a .432 hitting percentage in the match after going 23-for-44 on the attack ... followed the performance with 13 kills later in the day against host Montana ... earned All-Tournament Team honors for the Montana Invitational ... was named the Big 12 Rookie of the Week on Sept. 10 for her performance in Montana ... was the third Red Raider to earn a Big 12 weekly award ... kept her strong run going following Montana with 14 kills against Houston Baptist in the Rice Invitational opener ... was her third-straight game in double digits, her longest of the season ... finished in double digits for kills four times during Big 12 play - Oct. 6 against Iowa State (10), Oct. 10 at Baylor (12), Nov. 14 at Texas (10) and Nov. 11 against Baylor (11) ... improved blocking as season progressed ... notched a season-high four blocks Sept. 26 against TCU ... three of those blocks were solo, marking her season high ... was one of six Red Raiders to play in 30 or more matches.
