Raider Spikers Sweep Liberty

Texas Tech yet to lose a game, move to 3-0

FAIRFAX, Va. - The Texas Tech volleyball team improved to 3-0 on the season with its third-straight sweep in a 15-3, 15-9, 15-6 win over Liberty in the Brion's Grille/Patriot Invitational Friday. The Red Raiders defeated Maryland-Baltimore County 15-10, 15-8, 15-10 in the early game on Friday.

In the nightcap, Lori Garber led the Red Raiders with 14 kills in 19 attmempts, while Courtney Putnam continued to play well with 11 kills in the match. All-America candidate setter Lisa Hilgers recorded 47 assists and a team-high 13 digs.

Texas Tech hit .336 in the match, while limiting Liberty to just .057 on 26 kills in 106 attempts. Liberty fell to 1-1 on the season after a three-game win over George Mason on Friday.

Texas Tech faces Wisconsin-Milwaukee Saturday at 11:45 a.m. (central) before facing host George Mason in the night game at 6:30 p.m. (central). Wisconsin-Milwaukee defeated George Mason 15-11, 15-8, 15-3 and lost to Maryland-Baltimore County in five games on Friday. George Mason is 0-2 on the season, heading into the Texas Tech match Saturday night.
