LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech volleyball suffered a tough defeat at the hand of the Kansas Jayhawks in four sets (25-19, 17-25, 25-23, 25-22).

Tech (5-12, 0-6) was plagued by a .026 hitting percentage as it lost the first set 25-19. The Red Raiders started the second set on a 6-1 run and held Kansas (8-7, 2-4), to a -.029 hitting percentage, winning 25-17. The third set again saw the Red Raiders get out to a fast start up 8-1, but Kansas rallied back for a 25-23 win. The final set went back and forth with the biggest margin being only three points, but Tech couldn't overcome the deficit losing 25-23.

Tech was led by outside hitter Caroline Courtney and middle blocker Amanda Dowdy with 10 kills each. Libero Jenn Harrell had a game-high 23 digs.

Kansas was led by Karina Garlington who finished with 18 kills.

The Red Raiders will travel to Boulder, Colo. on Wed., Oct. 15 for a match with Colorado.
