Baylor Overcomes Early Deficit to Drop Texas Tech

WACO, Texas - Texas Tech let an opening-set lead go to waste for the second-straight match Wednesday night as Baylor rallied to defeat the Red Raiders, 3-1 (23-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-18), at the Ferrell Center.

The Red Raiders (11-10; 0-5) also topped No. 22 Iowa State in the opening frame last Saturday before eventually falling in four sets as well. Tech was previously 8-2 this year when winning the opening set.

Errors plagued the Red Raiders throughout the night as Tech committed 30 en route to a .065 hitting percentage, its lowest of the season. Tech failed to hit positive over the final two frames with a -.031 average in the third and a .000 percentage in the fourth.

The Bears (14-6; 1-4) turned the tide with a .297 hitting percentage in the second set and then a .333 average to close the match in the fourth. Baylor hit just .116 in the opening set as the Red Raiders took the opening lead.

Torri Campbell powered the Baylor offense with 15 kills while Alyssa Dibbern added 14 of her own to go along with a .345 hitting percentage. Baylor closed the match hitting .228 as a team.

Emily Ehrle led the Red Raiders with 12 kills, seven of which that came in the opening frame, while Lydia McKay chipped in nine of her own from the middle.

Rachel Brummitt anchored the Tech back row with 17 digs, including 10 in the opening set alone, while Tory Vaughan recorded 10 as well. Emily Ruetter also added eight digs to go along with her 34 assists.

Baylor led the Red Raiders, 78-62, in digs as Hope Ogden had 26 to lead five Bears in double digits. Kayci Evans, Thea Much-Soegaard and Kate Harris all recorded 12 digs while Mackenzie Mayo added 11 as well.

The Red Raiders return to the road this weekend when they travel to Morgantown, W.Va to battle West Virginia for the first time as Big 12 members. First serve is slated for 12 p.m. CT in the WVU Coliseum.
