TEXAS TECH MATCH NOTES The match was the third all-time between Texas Tech and West Virginia and the first as Big 12 Conference members. The win improves the Red Raiders to 3-0 all-time against the Mountaineers and 2-0 when playing in Morgantown. The two teams had not previously met since Texas Tech took a 3-1 victory on Sept. 22, 1995, in Morgantown. The win snapped a nine-match losing streak for the Red Raiders, who had previously not won since defeating Houston Baptist on Sept. 14 in the Rice Invitational opener. The Red Raiders also scored their Big 12 road victory since defeating Colorado on Nov. 10, 2010, in Boulder. Texas Tech was previously 3-7 this year and 4-21 under head coach Don Flora when losing the opening set. The Red Raiders had not previously overcome a first-set deficit in a Big 12 match since defeating Colorado on Nov. 10, 2010, in Boulder. Texas Tech's .236 hitting percentage marked the Red Raiders highest average in a conference match since hitting .294 in a 3-2 loss against Colorado on Oct. 13, 2010. The Red Raiders also led 10-7 in blocks, marking the second time Texas Tech had led the category in Big 12 play this year.
