AMES, Iowa - Iowa State, which earlier this week beat No. 5 Nebraska for the first time in its 33-year history, cruised to a 3-set win over Texas Tech on the strength of a team hitting efficiency of .296 (45 kills, 13 errors in 108 attempts). With the win the Cyclones move to 17-3, 9-2 on the season while Tech falls to 2-17, 0-10.

Sophomore middle blocker Amanda Dowdy led Tech with 11 kills and freshman outside hitter Miara Cave chipped in with six. Defensive specialist freshman Aleah Hayes led the defense with 10 digs. Dowdy and sophomore setter Karlyn Meyers each had six digs to try to keep points alive, but Iowa State's Victoria Henson and Jamie Straube both racked up dougle-digit kills, 13 and 12, respectively, for the ball-control style squad.

The crowd, which packed the Hilton Coliseum for the match, numbered 2,527 at the final turnstile count and most were still quite boisterous and anxious to voice their approval from the earlier upset of perennial volleyball powerhouse Nebraska in Lincoln.

As luck would have it, Tech next hosts No. 5 Nebraska on Wednesday, Oct. 28 for a 6:30 p.m. match with the Huskers as second round action in Big 12 play continues.
