LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech volleyball team received 10 kills from both middle blocker Amanda Dowdy and outside hitter Hayley Ball, but suffered a 3-1 (25-15, 21-25, 25-14, 25-17) defeat to Missouri.

Tech (5-19, 0-13) ran into a Missouri team (11-12, 5-8) that hit a .593 percentage for the set. The Red Raiders were down 8-3 early and brought it to within three points behind a kill from middle blocker Amanda Dowdy. The Tigers kept the momentum to win the set 25-15.

The Red Raiders stormed out in the second set to a 17-11 lead behind outside hitter Becca Baldwin's had three of her six kills and three blocks in the set. Tech held onto to win the set 25-21.

The Tigers came out in the third set on another hot streak as they hit .519 and Tech struggled losing the set 25-14.

Tech battled in the third set, being down three early, brought the score to 10-10 behind back-to-back aces from setter Caroline Witte. Missouri pushed the lead to 3 at 20-17 and put the match away on a 5-0 run. "We have to work on keeping our intensity throughout sets," head coach Nancy Todd said after the match. "Tonight we started aggressive, but couldn't sustain it."

Dowdy and outside hitter Hayley Ball led the Red Raiders with 10 kills a piece.

Missouri received 20 kills from Julianna Klein and 13 from Megan Wilson.

The Lady Raiders return home on Wed., Nov. 5th, for a match with Iowa State.
