• The victory marks Texas Tech's first over a ranked opponent since topping Kansas State in 2004 as well as the Wildcats were ranked No. 20 when the Red Raiders took a 3-2 victory on Nov. 20 in Manhattan.
• The 2004 match was also Texas Tech's last win in the series as Kansas State had previously won the previous last 15 contests in the series.
• Texas Tech had not previously defeated a ranked opponent in less than five sets since topping No. 21 Missouri, 3-1, on Oct. 5, 2002. That was also the last time the Red Raiders defeated a top-25 team at the United Spirit Arena.
• Texas Tech's 14.5 blocks on the night marked its most during Big 12 play and its third-most so far this season.
• The win improved Texas Tech to 10-3 this season and 24-6 under head coach Don Flora when the Red Raiders win the opening set.
• Texas Tech is also now 9-0 this year and 12-1 under Flora when taking a 2-1 lead as well.
• Despite posting a lower hitting percentage, Texas Tech was able to score its first victory this year when doing so as the Red Raiders were 0-16 previously.

Don Flora
• Improved to 208-92 as a collegiate head coach and 29-33 while at Texas Tech.
• Scored his first ever victory over a ranked opponent.
• Improved to 1-3 all-time against Kansas State.

Miara Cave
• Connected on 13 kills to lead the Red Raiders, marking the 10th time this season where she has reached double digits. She had not previously been in double figures since connecting on 10 kills Oct. 17 against Oklahoma.
• Matched her career high with seven blocks, all assists. She previously set her career high on Nov. 25, 2010, against Iowa State.

Brianna Grant
• Grant recorded her best performance of the season as she set career highs in kills (10), blocks (9), attempts (21), and hitting percentage (.333).
• Her nine blocks mark the most for a Red Raider during Big 12 play this year. It also matches the season high for Texas Tech individuals in all matches as Aubree Piper also had nine blocks in the Aug. 24 season opener against Fordham.

Breeann David
• David played six rotations for most of the night as the sophomore had seven kills along with 12 digs and five blocks. It was the third time David had reached double digits in digs this year and the first time in Big 12 play.
