Texas Tech Sweeps Rival Kansas 3-0 Tech
Wins 15th Three-Game Sweep of Season
LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech volleyball team won its 19th match of the season with a 3-0, 15-6, 15-13, 15-4 sweep of Kansas Saturday at Lubbock's Municipal Coliseum. The Red Raiders improve to 6-5 in Big 12 play and 19-6 overall while Kansas drops to 1-11 in the Big 12 and 8-17 overall.
Senior middle blocker Brande Brown led the way for Texas Tech with 11 kills and 10 digs. Junior outside hitter Heather Fife, in her first career start, added career highs in kills (eight), attempts (13) and hitting percentage (.538).
Junior setter Lisa Hilgers, who surpassed the 4,000-career assist barrier on Friday against Kansas State, finished the evening with 26 assists and had a match-high 16 digs, while junior middle blocker Sonia Moric pitched in six kills and a .625 hitting percentage.
Kansas was held to .118 (38-24-119) hitting while Tech finished at a .287 clip (40-11-101). The Jayhawks were led by Kendra Kahler's nine kills and Amy Myatt's .429 (7-1-14) hitting percentage).
Tech is next in action at Texas A&M on Friday, November 7 at 7:00 p.m. and at Texas on Saturday, November 8 at 3:00 p.m. The Texas match will televised on tape delay by Fox Sports Net. Airing time will be released at a later date.
