Red Raider Volleyball Defeats Portland
LUBBOCK, Texas -- The Texas Tech women's volleyball team improved to 2-0 on the young season by defeating the University of Portland in four games, 7-15, 15-3, 15-3, 15-8.
The Red Raiders started the match off slow, hitting only .119 compared to Portland's .263. But Texas Tech began to get hot, hitting .233 in game two, .300 in game three and .390 in game four.
Courtney Putnam led the Red Raiders with 18 kills and a .432 hitting percentage while Brande Brown added 12 kills and Angela Cooper had 10. Lisa Hilgers led Texas Tech with 45 assists.
The Red Raiders will return to action tomorrow for the second day of the Sheraton Shootout as Texas Tech will face SMU at noon.
