Texas Tech Spikes the Cyclones
AMES, Iowa--Paced by a scorching .393 hitting percentage, the Texas Tech Red Raider volleyball team recorded a 3-0 (15-4, 15-7, 15-8) victory over the Iowa State Cyclones in Big 12 Conference action Saturday night at the Forker Building in Ames, Iowa. TTU improves its overall record to 15-1 and 2-0 in conference play. ISU falls to 9-6 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
Brande Brown, who was last week's co-Big 12 Player of the Week, continued her stellar play by notching 18 kills for a .640 hitting percentage. Setter Lisa Hilgers broke TTU's career assist record by tallying 39 in the win. ISU struggled from the floor, hitting .154 as a team. Junior Colleen Henican pounded 12 kills and sophomore Andrea Thul added 10 to lead the Cyclones.
"We are going to be good," Iowa State Head Coach Jackie Nunez said. " We are just really young, and it is going to take some time."
The Red Raiders next opponents are Texas and Texas Tech, also of the Big XII.
