LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech head coach Don Flora announced Tuesday the completion of his staff for the 2014 season with the hiring of Jennah DeVries as the program's new director of volleyball operations.
DeVries, a former volleyball standout for Flora at New Mexico State, will be responsible for the day-to-day operations for the Red Raiders, including team travel, video oversight, housing, equipment and various other business functions.
"Jennah is someone who brings a broad set of skills that add and complement our current staff tremendously," Flora said. "She is a person who carries herself well in many settings and knows the focus of this program is to be an elite NCAA volleyball program. We are looking forward to having Jennah join the Red Raider volleyball family soon."
DeVries played for New Mexico State from 2008-11, crossing paths in the process with Flora who was an assistant coach with the Aggies during DeVries' sophomore and junior seasons.
Since then, DeVries has been a regular at Tech each summer as she has participated as a clinician at the Don Flora Volleyball Camps that are held annually at the United Spirit Arena.
"I am really excited," DeVries said of joining the Tech staff. "It's an honor to be a part of the Red Raider family. I have a passion for volleyball so I'm excited to share my knowledge and to be a positive influence on this team and the coaching staff. I'm looking forward to getting to Lubbock soon and help make this program more successful."
The Sedalia, Colo. native was a three-time All-WAC selection during her four seasons as the Aggies' starting setter where she dished out 4,052 career assists, fourth-most in program history. She garnered WAC All-Freshmen honors in 2008 as well as conference all-tournament accolades following both the 2009 and 2011 WAC Championships.
DeVries was honored three times as an AVCA All-Region selection as well as a three-time AVCA honorable mention All-American. She was part of three 20-win teams at New Mexico State where she helped lead the Aggies to the NCAA Tournament in 2008.
In addition to her work on the court, DeVries was also a three-time Academic All-WAC honoree while pursuing her degree in individualized studies with a minor in family and child science. She graduated from New Mexico State in the spring of 2012.
