LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech wrapped a successful day at the UT Arlington Tournament Saturday with victories over the host Mavericks as well as Abilene Christian and Baylor.

The Red Raiders closed the day 3-1 overall as they also suffered a close 2-1 loss to North Texas. Tech swept both UTA and ACU, 2-0, in the morning session and then claimed a 2-1 victory over Big 12 rival Baylor to close the day.

"It was a quality day of clean Red Raider style volleyball," Tech head coach Don Flora said. "As we continue to focus on our defense and our transition attacking through the middle, we are seeing good growth from our defenders and a lot of hard work from all three middles. The staff and I have been pleased with our development and look forward to getting back to training this week in order to get better each day."

Jenna Allen and Aubree Piper led the Red Raiders offensively as they combined for 33 and 22 kills collectively on the day, while libero Rachel Brummitt anchored the back line with 49 total digs.

Allen had 11 kills against Baylor alone en route to finishing with a .259 hitting percentage on the day. Piper was also successful against the Bears with a .778 percentage as she was 7-for-9 on attacks with no errors. She wrapped the day with a team-high .477 hitting percentage.

The Red Raiders will close their spring slate at the Lonestar College Showcase hosted April 20 at the Dallas Convention Center.
