LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech volleyball program will close its spring slate Saturday when the Red Raiders travel to the North Texas area for the Lone Star College Showcase held at the Dallas Convention Center.
The Red Raiders will be in the event's morning wave as Tech will face Angelo State at 9 a.m. followed by matches with Southern Nazarene at 11 a.m. and then Big 12 rival TCU at 1 p.m. to close the day.
"We are looking forward to continuing to see the growth that has taken place this spring," Tech head coach Don Flora said. "The individual and collective growth has been very measurable, and we hope to see that continue this weekend."
This is the second-straight year that Tech has competed in the Lonestar College Showcase. The event also features several other Big 12 schools in Oklahoma, Baylor, Texas and Kansas State, who will all play in the afternoon session.
Tech is coming off a 3-1 showing a few weeks ago at the UT Arlington tournament where the Red Raiders topped the host Mavericks as well as Abilene Christian and conference foe Baylor. North Texas handed Tech its only loss with a back-and-forth 2-1 decision.
The Red Raiders are 5-3 overall on the spring with wins also over Midland College and Lubbock Christian.
