LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech volleyball coach Don Flora added to his depth in the middle Wednesday with the signing of Ole Miss transfer Lauren Douglass.

Douglass, a native of Flower Mound, Texas, redshirted her 2012 freshman season at Ole Miss and will have four seasons of eligibility remaining. The 6-2 middle blocker is the third transfer to join the program this offseason, joining Jenna Allen and Carlie Foust.

"It is nice to have Lauren Douglass join us here in the Texas Tech volleyball program," Flora said. "Lauren is a really good person and a solid volleyball player. She has been coached well this past year by a staff I respect. It is exciting to have her want to be a Red Raider and be part of what we are developing here. She brings a strong volleyball IQ and a high skill level to compete within the Big 12, so we are looking forward to Lauren being part of the Red Raider family."

Douglass signed with Ole Miss after a successful prep career at Marcus High School where she was an All-District 8-5A first team selection as a senior as well as an All-American special mention recipient by Prep Volleyball. She also garnered district Offensive Player of the Year accolades as a junior.

The four-year letterwinner helped lead Marcus to the regional finals in each of her final two seasons as she led the squad in both kills and blocks and was one of the more accurate hitters in the state.

Douglass, who played in the offseason on the Dallas Skyline club team, also lettered in track and field where she snapped the school record in the high jump and later advanced to the state meet in the event.

The signing gives Flora a 20-player roster for the upcoming 2013 season which will begin Aug. 9 when the Red Raiders report for training camp in preparation for the Aug. 30 opener at the Wildcat Invitational hosted by Weber State.
