LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech senior outside hitter Breeann David recently returned from her trip with the U.S. Collegiate National Team that took her overseas for the first time in her life.
David, a native of nearby Denver City, Texas, was one of 12 players that traveled as part of USA Volleyball's European Tour. The team visited Italy, Slovenia and Croatia during its nearly two-week stay.
"This was an amazing experience getting to see some of the best young players in the world," David said. "It definitely helped me as a player and I'm very grateful that Tech supported me with this trip. It's great to be a Red Raider and I'm ready for my senior season."
David practiced with the U.S. squad that eventually finished second in the 10th annual Global Challenge, losing only to Slovenia in the championship match. The U.S. previously breezed through the earlier rounds.
The trip marked the second stint for a Red Raider this offseason with one of the U.S. Collegiate National Teams as fellow senior Rachel Brummitt traveled to Minnesota to train and compete with the team in late June.
David arrived back in Lubbock late this past weekend in time for preparations for her senior season. She was one of the Big 12's top attackers a year ago, ranking fourth in the league for points per set and fifth for kills per set.
The Red Raiders begin training camp for the 2014 season on Aug. 8 before opening the regular season on Aug. 29 against Sacred Heart in the Titan Classic hosted by Cal State Fullerton.
