Lubbock, Texas - After two weeks of practices, the 2007 season gets underway for the Texas Tech volleyball team this weekend when it travels to Las Vegas, Nev. for the UNLV Tournament Friday and Saturday.

Tech's first game will be Friday afternoon when it takes on Virginia from the Atlantic Coast Conference. Saturday will see a pair of games as UNLV from the Mountain West and Arizona State from the Pacific 10 will oppose the Red Raiders.

"It is going to be a tough weekend," TTU coach Nancy Todd said. "Those are all great teams. The girls are excited and ready to play. We're going to go in focused and take it one match at time."

The Red Raiders enter the 2007 campaign with a great deal of excitement. Todd returns seven players to her roster that started or saw significant playing time in 2006. Included in that group are senior setter Emily Ziegler (Dallas, Texas, Highland Park) and senior middle blockers Amy Gandy and Alicia Ostmeyer.

First serve for Friday's game with the Cavaliers is set for 2:30 p.m.. Saturday's contests are scheduled for 10 a.m. against UNLV and 2:30 p.m. against ASU. All times are CST. Gametracker will be available for fans to follow each game.
