H1N1 Forces Tournament Modification|
Aug. 27, 2009
LUBBOCK, Texas - Tulane becomes the first volleyball squad of the 2009 season to be overwhelmed by H1N1 as four of their players have the illness and the team was forced to withdraw from the Bluejay Invitational in Omaha, Neb. this weekend.
The schedule for the weekend, which will now feature the remaining three teams, means Texas Tech has only two matches at D.J. Sokol Arena. On Friday, August 28, at 6:30 p.m. the Red Raiders will face the host, Creighton, and then on Saturday, August 29 at Noon will play No. 10 Illinois in the shortened weekend series of action. (Offers by this office to form a team with fellow media relations persons and coaches, were met with no comment.)
For up-to-the-minute information about the tournament and any other official announcements about the weekend, fans are encouraged to use the "Volleyball Central" link (accessed from the main Volleyball page of this site) to Creighton University (Tournament Central) as the Texas Tech team will be traveling later today and updates to this site will not be made further.
