Volleyball Hosts Four Points-Sheraton/Red Raider Classic

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech volleyball team will host the 20th annual Four Points-Sheraton/Red Raider Classic this Friday and Saturday in the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum. The five-team, 10-match volleyball invitational will feature No. 5 ranked UC-Santa Barbara, Oral Roberts, Belmont, Centenary and Texas Tech (see schedule below).
The feature match will pair Texas Tech against the No. 5 nationally ranked UC-Santa Barbara Gauchos on Saturday at 7 p.m. UC-Santa Barbara defeated Stanford 3-1 to climb five spots in the national rankings from No. 10 to No. 5. The Gauchos enter the weekend at 3-0.
Texas Tech (5-0) enters the tournament after winning the Brion's Grill Invitational at George Mason University last weekend. Lisa Hilgers was named the tournament MVP while Kristen Holmes and Courtney Putnam both earned all tournament honors. Texas Tech received 31 votes in the weekly AVCA/USA Today coaches' poll.
The tournament will feature two special promotions. Admission is free for the 7 p.m. match on Friday between Oral Roberts and Texas Tech. During the Saturday match pairing Texas Tech and UC-Santa Barbara, the first 150 people through the doors will receive a free tournament tee-shirt.
