Texas Tech Hosts Power in Pink Night Wednesday
Texas Tech will host its annual "Power in Pink" night Wednesday against Oklahoma.

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech will host its annual "Power in Pink" night Wednesday evening when the Red Raider volleyball team faces Oklahoma in a 6 p.m. first serve at the United Spirit Arena. The match will air nationally on FOX College Sports.
The Red Raiders will wear pink uniforms by Under Armour that will be auctioned during the match to benefit breast cancer awareness. All fans wearing pink to the match will also receive free admission.
Texas Tech will recognize breast cancer survivors during various points during match, including team introductions and during the 10-minute intermission between the second and third sets. The women's soccer team and men's tennis All-Americans Raony Carvalho and Gonzalo Escobar will also be introduced as well.
The Susan G. Komen Foundation will have an informational booth available on the concourse to help educate the general public of the disease.
The organization was established in 1982 by Nancy Brinker to honor the memory of her sister, Susan G. Komen, who died from breast cancer at the age of 36. Today, the foundation is an international organization with a network of more than 75,000 volunteers working through local affiliates and events like the Komen Race for the Cure to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease.
In addition to the "Power in Pink" promotion, Texas Tech will also host its annual Residence Hall Challenge as the housting complex with the most students in attendance will receive a pizza party. The first 100 students will also receive a pair of Texas Tech sunglasses plus a coupon good for a free item from Sonic.
