"We had a good week. I thought we played a real good match at Iowa State. Everyone played, and played consistently, and we were able to put them away fairly convincingly. Sky Orzen and Melissa McGehee both had great matches, and really led the way for us."

"Against Baylor on Saturday, it was a little bit more of the same with these home matches, another five-game home match. We came out and played a really good first game, and played fairly steady in the second game and let it get away on some hitting errors at the end of the game. And then in the third game, more than anything, we just ran into a team than was in a zone. We had two balls that hit off their head that rolled back over the net. That's the kind of thing, there's not a lot you can do about it except keep playing. And the team did and showed a lot of character because we really struggled in game three."

"We changed the lineup in game four, pulled Ann Romjue from the L-2 position and inserted Heather Hughes just for a different look. It steadied us out a little bit. Then Colleen Smith reentered the match and did outstanding, ended up picking up 131 or 14 kills in the last two games. She had been out and struggling early in the match and went back in and led the way, and Melissa McGehee picked it up a little bit, and Janelle Jones, and all of a sudden we were back in the match."

"Probably the turning point is kind of fun. Janelle doesn't play much back row. The game had gone on so long, it was about a 45-minute game. We had taken 100 swings in the game already, just our team. Janelle went back to serve and she's only done that a few times in her career here, and served an ace to put us up, I believe, 19-18. That really got everyone fired up, and we were able to pull it out after that."

"The fifth game was as good a game as we have played all year. We really steadied out, focused, served tough, sided out on almost every play and just got it done. It was very steady, very solid, and hopefully that's what we can build on for our match next Saturday at Kansas State."

"We're preparing for Kansas State. They're led by Liz Wegner. She's an outstanding hitter. Disney Bronnenberg is their setter, does a really nice job in I think her third year starting. Kelle Branting, a senior middle blocker, who I think is leading the conference in hitting percentage. We'll have our hands full. We beat them 22-20 in the fifth [game] the first time. We're looking for another tough match. It's always hard to go up there. We've struggled up there. We're in a little better shape than we've ever been in going up there, too. Everybody appears to be healthy again and ready to go."

"The goals for the second half are good ones, they're attainable. We feel like we've got 10 matches left, nine conference matches, and we want to get better with every one of them. And we want to be our best when the tournament comes around."
