Texas Tech Volleyball Defeats Missouri 3-0Red Raiders defeat Missouri 15-10, 15-10, 15-7
October 24, 1998 LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech volleyball team used 11 service aces and 11 total blocks to defeat Missouri 15-10, 15-10, 15-7 Saturday evening in Lubbocks Municipal Coliseum. The victory improves Texas Tech to 5-5 in the Big 12 Conference and 16-7 overall while Missouri falls to 2-9 in the Big 12 and 11-12 overall. Texas Tech placed three players in double-figures kills. Lori Garber finished with 16 kills and a .364 hitting percentage, Courtney Putnam banged home 12 kills and 12 digs and Sonia Moric finished with 11 kills and seven blocks. Heather Hughes ended the match with 16 digs and four aces while setter Lisa Hilgers added 45 assists and 11 digs. The difference in the match was serving and blocking. Texas Tech finished with 11 aces while Missouri ended with one and the Red Raiders outblocked the Tigers 11-4. Jodi Maune led Missouri with 20 kills, followed by Annette Luytens 14. Texas Tech outhit Missouri .195 (54-23-159)- .225 (57-23-151). |
