College Station, Texas - No. 14 Texas A&M defeated the Texas Tech Red Raiders tonight in volleyball action at G. Rollie White Coliseum in College Station before 956 fans. The Aggies beat the Red Raiders in three games, dropping Tech to 15-11 (4-9 Big 12) on the year. A&M improves to 19-4 (10-3).
Texas A&M opened up a 7-1 lead in the first game before a Jenny Donohoo kill ended the Aggie run. However, the Red Raiders were never able to put anything together and A&M went on for a 15-3 win. Texas A&M hit a phenomenal .528 (21-2-36) compared to Tech's .273 (13-4-33).
Game two also started in A&M's favor as the Aggies marched out to a 10-1 lead. However, the Tech women responded by scoring six unanswered points to pull within three, 10-7. Tech continued to battle but couldn't dig out of the hole they had created. Texas A&M went on to the 15-9 victory. A key to the game was five service errors for Tech. The Red Raiders hit .158 (18-9-57) while A&M hit .277 (15-2-47).
The third game was more of the same for Tech. A&M scored the game's first 12 points of the game before Tech finally got on the board. A&M went on to win the match 15-2. Tech struggled the entire game to put together any solid run as they hit minus .161 (4-9-31).
