LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech volleyball squad will take on the Baylor Bears in a Saturday match at the United Spirit Arena. The second match in the series between the two teams in 2006 will begin with a 5:30 p.m. first serve. The teams are tied for seventh in the conference, each carrying a 4-11 Big 12 record. Overall, Tech sits at 11-13 on the season, with Baylor being 16-12.

The first meeting between the Red Raiders and Bears on September 20th went to a fifth and deciding game. Tech was looking to capture their first Big 12 victory at the time, while Baylor was 1-1 in conference play. Texas Tech was unable to get that first win, as the Bears won by scores of 28-30, 30-23, 30-27, 17-30, 15-13.

The Red and Black out-hit Baylor .223 to .218, but displayed poor hitting in the fifth game (.080) to fall behind. The slow performance came after Tech dominated Baylor in the fourth game by hitting .345 and allowing the Bears .000 hitting.

Two Red Raiders scored double-doubles: Philister Sang tallied 28 kills to go with 11 digs; Kiley Lyons put up 21 digs with 10 kills. One Baylor Bear, Nicole LeBlanc, notched a double-double as well with 18 kills and 12 digs.

Texas Tech is coming off of a four-game loss at 15th-ranked Oklahoma. The Red Raiders came out strong to capture the first game 30-27, but Tech fell in the next three to lose in frames of 30-27, 28-30, 22-30, 28-30.

In kills, Sang led for the 16th-straight match as she notched 21, while Brittany Hughes added 12 and Alicia Ostmeyer 11. Emily Ziegler and Holly Hicks shared setting duties, with each tallying 26 and 19 respectively. Kiley Lyons topped off digging duties after recording 17 with Jenn Harrell adding 15. Ziegler added 12 digs to complete her fifth double-double of the season.

Baylor is coming off of a loss to Kansas State, who, prior to the match against the Bears, had one conference victory (vs. Tech; 10/18). BU was swept 3-0 by KSU in frames of 30-24, 30-20, 30-23. The Wildcats hit .282 while Baylor finished with a .210 percentage.

For the Bears, Anna Breyfogle led in kills with 11, while Desiree Guilliard-Young added 10. Taylor Barnes led in assists with 38 of Baylor's 41. While tallying a total of 35 digs on defense, no Bear figured in double-digit for the category. Deja Sweeney led with seven, LeBlanc had five, and four Bears added four each. Breyfogle added blocking stats to her kills as she knocked down six (one solo, five assisted).

The Red Raiders and Bears will get underway at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11th, following the season opener for the Red Raider men's basketball squad. Free admission is available into the volleyball match to those with men's basketball ticket stubs.

Live stats for the event will be available on the official Texas Tech athletic site, www.texastech.com. A link may be found on the volleyball schedule page.
