LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech freshman volleyball player Amanda Dowdy was named to the All-Big 12 Freshman team today announced by the Big 12 Conference.

Dowdy led the Red Raiders with 301 kills, 66 total blocks and a .286 hitting percentage on the season. She recorded a career-high 20 kills in two matches this past season. Dowdy is the first Red Raider to be honored on the All-Big 12 freshman team.

The All-Big 12 awards are selected by the league's head coaches, who are not allowed to vote for their own players.
