LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech cross country teams had eight members receive Academic All-Big 12 honors announced today by the Big 12 Conference Office.

Sophomores Tracie Akerhielm (Sulpher Springs, Texas), Emily Kepple (Flower Mound, Texas), Kathryn Lyman (Cheyenne, Wyoming), Jennifer Marable (Canyon, Texas), and Bridget Tidwell (Crawford, Texas) all made first team Academic All-Big 12. Junior Shannon Spaulding (Rockport, Texas) also made first team Academic All-Big 12 with a 4.0 GPA. Only 12 of the 131 honorees were nominated with a 4.0 GPA.

On the men's cross country team, sophomore Dwayne Benoit (Abilene, Texas) and senior Adrian Dodds (El Paso, Texas) were first team Academic All-Big 12 selections.

First team Academic All-Big 12 required a GPA of 3.20 or greater and second team Academic All-Big 12 required a GPA of 3.0 to 3.19.
